Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This policy explains what Chatterly Calls collects, why, and what happens to your call audio. The short version: we don't store your calls. Audio and captions exist only for the moments they're needed to run the live call, then they're gone.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Email address & hashed password | Your account and sign-in | Until you delete your account |
| Numbers you dial, call time & duration | Metering your plan minutes; abuse prevention | Until you delete your account |
| Your chosen voice setting | To speak your words in the voice you picked | Stored in your browser; not linked to call content |
| Call audio & live captions | Operating the call itself | Not stored. Processed in real time and discarded when the call ends |
| Payment details | Subscriptions | Held by Stripe, never by us — we see only your subscription status |
Who processes your data during a call
To make a call work, data passes in real time through service providers acting on our behalf:
- Twilio carries the phone call (like a phone company).
- Deepgram converts the other party's speech to text, and your typed text to speech, in real time.
- Anthropic receives recent caption text to generate optional reply suggestions.
- Stripe handles payments.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use your calls to train AI models.
Recording & consent
The Service does not record calls. Live transcription and captioning may be treated as interception or recording in some places, and laws on call consent vary by jurisdiction. Every call begins with an automated announcement that a real person is typing their responses, which are read aloud in a synthesized voice. You are responsible for complying with the call-consent and recording laws that apply where you and the other party are located, including obtaining any consent required before the call.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and its data entirely by contacting us. If you are in the EU/UK, you have the rights provided by the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection); our legal basis for processing is performance of our contract with you. If you are in California, you may exercise the rights provided by the CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell or share personal information.
Security
Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS). Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes. Account data lives in a database on our hosting provider's encrypted disks. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
The Service is not directed to children and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We'll announce material changes to this policy by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect.
